Zach Spencer’s tenure at Auburn has been characterized by remarkable achievements requiring initiative like few I have encountered. “The Freshman” has been an integral part of FMA since its inception 4 years ago when we welcomed the only freshman into the group that inaugural year. As a senior, Zach continues to inspire and prepare students pursuing careers in finance. In addition to his involvement with FMA, Zach was instrumental in transitioning the Auburn Student Investment Fund from a virtual to real-money fund. He also served on the SGA Academic Grievance Committee, where he worked with students and faculty to resolve academic grievances.
Zach also served as site leader for the SaveFirst Tax Initiative at Auburn. SaveFirst is an anti-poverty program which partners with the IRS to provide free, quality tax preparation services for low-income communities in Alabama.
After his junior year, Zach interned at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and followed that with a move to Washington, D.C. where Zach served as a White House intern in the Office of American Innovation. This office, led by Jared Kushner, includes top business leaders who serve as a consultancy applying best business practices from the private sector to modernize the government. Zach had the opportunity to experience firsthand how our government works and to participate in issues like infrastructure development, technology modernization, and prison reform initiatives. After graduating from Auburn this spring, Zach will begin his professional career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Wells Fargo Securities.
Zach’s favorite FMA memories include the annual grad parties and his New York exec trip last year. “It’s been great to establish the friendships with other members. I can’t believe this will be my fourth FMA grad party, and this time I will be a recipient of the fire pit roast instead of a contributor. I can’t thank FMA enough for all it has meant to me these last four years. This is only the beginning guys – work hard, take ownership, give back and be grateful. I’ve seen the transition from the first year and it’s nothing short of amazing”
Zach – thank YOU…you’re the only one left who has been with me from the start. It’s been a pleasure playing a part in your future and establishing an enduring friendship that I know will see a new investment lab, national recognition and HCOB swag. You Rock!
